Plenary talk title: How to Communicate Science or Scientific Communication in Linguistics
How to present scientific ideas and research findings, how to effectively convey research results in a clear and precise manner, and how to adjust scientific discourse to suit different audiences – these are the fundamental questions and prerequisites for successful scientific communication. Thus, the aim of this workshop is to introduce students to the basic aspects of scientific communication within the field of linguistics.
Based on the aforementioned questions, the workshop will cover several key topics: a)
linguistics as a discipline within the Humanities, possessing significant interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary potential; b) identifying the audience for scientific communication and adapting the discourse about science and research – communication within the scientific community varies from communication aimed at a broader audience; c) effective scientific communication at conferences; d) explaining the basic structure of a linguistic paper.
Throughout the workshop, students will be encouraged to utilize their own presentations, research drafts, or future articles, refining and improving them in accordance with the main guidelines and instructions provided.
