Arriving by train (Deutsche Bahn): Arriving at Heidelberg Main Station (“Hauptbahnhof”)

Alternative 1: From “Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof” to University Square (“Universitätsplatz”)

There is a direct bus connection from the main train station to University Square via bus number 32 (direction: “Altstadt/ Universitätsplatz”). The bus leaves every 10 minutes.

Alternative 2: From “Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof” to University Square (“Universitätsplatz”)

Alternatively, you can take several different buses (33, 34, 720) or street cars (5, 21) to “Bismarckplatz”. From there, you can either walk straight down “Hauptstraße”, turning right onto “Kettengasse” (a 15-minute walk), or take bus number 31 or 32 to University Square (“Universitätsplatz”).

From University Square to the English Department:

It is a five-minute walk from the bus stop on University Square (which is located on “Grabengasse”) to the English Department. After crossing University Square, follow “Merianstraße” and turn right onto “Kettengasse”. The English Department is located roughly 100m down the street on the right side.

Alternative 3: From “Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof” to “Oberer Fauler Pelz”

A further option is taking bus number 33 (direction: “Ziegelhausen, Köpfel“) to the stop “Oberer Fauler Pelz”.

From : “Oberer Fauler Pelz” to the English Department

Von der Haltestelle Oberer Fauler Pelz beträgt der Fußweg zum Anglistischen Seminar etwa 3 Minuten. Nach Überqueren der Straße links abbiegen. Nach etwa 10m erscheint eine Treppe, die direkt in die Kettengasse führt. Von hier aus dem Verlauf der Kettengasse folgen (bergab). Das Anglistische Seminar befindet sich in etwa 30m Entfernung auf der linken Seite.

It is a three-minute walk from the bus stop “Oberer Fauler Pelz” to the English Department. After crossing the street, turn left. In 10m, you will find stairs leading directly to “Kettengasse”. Follow “Kettengasse” down the hill to the English Department, which you will find on your left after roughly 30m.

Arriving by car

Highway (“Autobahn”) A5:

Exit Autobahn A5 at “Kreuz Heidelberg”. Turn left onto the A656 in the direction of Heidelberg. Remain on the A659 until entering Heidelberg (passing a sign marked “Heidelberg”). Take the next right, following the signs for „Altstadt, Schloß“. This street will lead you passed the main train station and turn into a two-lane street in the direction of the city center (“Innenstadt (Kurfürstenanlage)”). After 1 km, the street leads to “Adenauerplatz”. Stay in the right lane and drive straight into the “Gaisbergtunnel”. Roughly 150m after the tunnel, turn left into parking garage P9. To get to parking garage P11, continue onward for roughly 200m. Turn left just before the next tunnel. The entry to parking garage P11 is to the left of the University Library.

From parking garage P9 to the English Department:

Exit parking garage P9 (daily rate: 12,50 Euro) to “Innenstadt/Plöck“ and turn right onto the street “Plöck”. Follow the street for roughly 300m (after passing the University Library (“Universitätsbibliothek”), the street turns into “Seminarstraße”). At the end of “Seminarstraße”, turn left onto “Kettengasse”. The English Department is located on your immediate left.

From parking garage P11 to the English Deparment:

Exit parking garage P11 (daily rate: 12,50 Euro) onto University Square and follow the directions above.
